Edinburgh: Frame by Frame
Offer Price £0.00
We’ve delved deep into our picture archive to bring you moving, funny and serious images that document daily life in Scotland’s capital city. Included within the pages of this glossy 84-page, book are more than 200 stunning images of people, places and pastimes. Whilst the book is picture led, the accompanying words and commentary are provided by Joan Burnie. Joan says, “This is all Edinburgh’s yesterdays, not just the the tourists’ view of the capital city - the Castle, Princes Street, Holyrood Palace and the Royal Mile - but the Edinburgh in which its people have lived, worked and of course played.
Through the cameras’ lens we can trace the way in which the City has changed over the years, from the grey, grim Auld Reekie into something much more vibrant and colourful. While it retains its world renowned Georgian and Medieval heritage, Edinburgh has moved forward with its great festivals, museums and award winning new buildings including the Scottish Parliament. It is of course the seat of Scotland’s Governments political, legal and religious establishments. But it is also a city in which its residents still live in its very heart, in the same streets and closes as their forebearers. Edinburgh IS history. Our history.”
